My Approach

Counseling offers a unique opportunity to look inside ourselves and to look around us. Through counseling we can further consider what it would mean to have greater personal understanding, to heal from past or current wounds, and/or to transform into the person we feel we have yet to become. The counseling relationship offers a space of non-judgment where we get to explore any part of what it means to be a human living in this complex, painful, and beautiful world. Through empathy, authenticity, and sometimes humor, I aim to meet my clients where they are and to act as a co-collaborator, exploring ways to enhance feelings of safety, empowerment, passion, and wellbeing. Feeling alive and well!

My therapeutic approach is highly Person-Centered and draws upon Gestalt and Existential principles. I often consider the mind and body connection, the nervous system and trauma responses, attachment tendencies, and environmental and societal influences when working with clients. Each client is different and therefore, the tools and techniques I bring into a session will depend on the individual and their goals and preferences.

I graduated with my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Asheville in December 2023. I have experience working with adolescents and adults of all ages. I enjoy working with diverse individuals with varying life experiences and am proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming.

Theories and modalities I may draw upon in a therapy session:

Person-Centered - empathy, positive regard, client autonomy, genuineness, therapeutic relationship

Existential - meaning making, sense of purpose, how we fit into a larger picture

Gestalt - finding wholeness, looking at the different parts of ourselves, our polarities/dualities, awareness

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- how our thoughts influence our emotions and actions

Mindfulness - awareness, acceptance, self-understanding, conscious choices

Polyvagal - nervous system responses, understanding and working with experiences of trauma

Attachment - attachment styles, increasing feelings of security with self and others
